Manchester City and Liverpool shared an exciting 2-2 draw when they met at Kirkby
Liverpool are hoping to stretch their Group 3 lead to six points when they travel to third-placed Manchester City in the Barclays Under-21 Premier League this afternoon.
The Reds are unbeaten after six matches and, perhaps more tellingly, have won all three of their away fixtures to date – a statistic that should stand them in good stead when they turn out at Hyde FC for this afternoon's 2pm kick-off.
For their part Man City, who lie seven points behind Rodolfo Borrell's charges, have yet to lose on home soil, and will draw confidence from having shared an exciting 2-2 draw with Liverpool at the Kirkby Academy earlier this season, when Jordi Mayfuila and Denis Suarez countered American international Marc Pelosi's double-strike.
Denis Suarez, who won the penalty that led to City's late equaliser against Wolverhampton Wanderers recently, was injured in the challenge and will be missing for several weeks.
After a series of strong performances in training and as substitute French youngster Jules Ntcham is in line to deputise for Suarez.
